MIDNIGHT UPDATE: The Snow will End, But the Wind Sure Won’t

Blizzard Warnings, Winter Storm Warnings, and Winter Weather Advisories remain posted this morning across much of the northwestern part of the state. While snowfall will begin to diminish overnight, the worst of the winds of this event will create the worst of the blizzard conditions that we’ve seen thus far. Northwesterly winds of 20-30 MPH with gusts up to 45 MPH remain possible.


The Missouri River Bridge in Sioux City along I-29 is CLOSED.
Highway 18 between Country Road K52 (Hull) and IA 60 (Sheldon) is CLOSED.
IA 3 between IA 12 (Akron) and Country Road K22 (3 miles west of the Brunsville area) is CLOSED.
IA 7 between IA 3 (near Aurelia) and Country Road N28 (Fonda) is CLOSED.

Travel will be extremely dangerous to next to impossible. Travel is NOT ADVISED across much of northwestern Iowa, including along I-29 around and north of Sioux City. Roads remain partially to completely covered across the entirety of the northwestern half of the state.
