Tornado, Severe Thunderstorm Watches in Effect

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for central and northern Iowa, southeastern Minnesota, and southwestern Wisconsin until 2:00 a.m.

Threats include:

  • Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2″ in diameter possible
  • Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 MPH possible
  • A tornado or two possible

Summary: Two primary episodes of severe thunderstorms should affect parts of the watch area into tonight: 1) A widely scattered hail threat ongoing, and 2) A better-organized complex of convection moving out of Nebraska this evening with damaging wind and hail risk.

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Tornado Watch for portions of far southwest Iowa, central Kansas, and southeast Nebraska until 10:00 p.m.

Threats include:

  • A few tornadoes likely with a couple intense tornadoes possible
  • Widespread large hail and scattered very large hail events to 3.5″ in diameter likely
  • Scattered damaging winds likely with isolated significant gusts to 75 MPH possible

Summary: Several severe storms are expected to develop along the dryline and quasi-stationary front through this evening. Tornadoes, very large hail, and damaging winds are anticipated.
